Increase of car sales in the USA
The car market in the USA is going in for the record - by the end of 2013
car sales reached their maximum figures for the past six years.
Car sales in the United States of America by the end of 2013 increased by 8% and have become the largest since 2007. In total for the past year there were 15.6 million cars sold, according to Bloomberg agency. As usual the top places in car sales of 2013 were after Ford (2,5 million sold cars), General Motors (2,8 million pieces) and, of course, Chrysler (1,8 million pieces).
The sales of Japanese manufacturers on the territory of the US have also
increased: last year Nissan sold more cars by an immense 9%, Toyota Motor
increased its sales by 7%, Honda Motor Co increased sales by 7%. European
car manufacturers like Daimler AG observe increase in sales (343,6 thousand
cars), BMW Group (376,7 thousand) also demonstrate rapid growth of sales
- by 13% and 8% correspondingly. Volkswagen company on the contrary showed
a steady drop of sales, e.g. in 2013 they only sold 611 thousand cars,
which is 1% less than in 2012.
Hyundai-Kia from South Korea have finished the financial year with 0 increase, having sold only 1,25 million cars in the USA. According to the statistical data, the most popular models in the USA last year were pickups from the Ford F-series (in total 760 thousand were sold) and Chevrolet Silverado (480 thousand cars were sold). In 2013 Americans also purchased 404 thousand Toyota Camry cars.
According to the experts, there is already a forecast for 2014. In the USA the car sales will reach approximately 16,2 million. As known by all, the most productive year for American car manufacturers was the year 2000. That year the Americans purchased 17,4 million cars.
Analysts tie this increase of car sales to Thanksgiving sales, according to USA today and a link to Autodata corporation, which is a prominent car analyst company in the USA. If last month car sales were at the level of 1,245 million, this will lead us to a forecasted yearly figure of 16,4 million. Which is by 6,5% more than the figures received at the beginning of 2013 (15,3 million). Thus we can say that a maximum level of car sales was reached for the first time since 2007 (16,8 million cars).
Through the next few years the share of cars with diesel motors will grow in the USA.
Americans are no big fans of diesel engines. Today the share of such models in the USA comprises only 1% of the market. Though, according to the forecast made by Bosch, this figure will soon grow. By 2018 it will at least increase by 10 times.
The new law about decrease of car pollution will, most likely, help this situation to develop. According to it, there are some tax incentives for cars with low fuel consumption. Besides this the increase of diesel engine cars sales will stimulate similar offers. At the moment several European and even American brands are offering diesel engine cars on the territory of the USA.
To sum it all up, we can say that Americans are now stepping on the path
that has long before been made by the Europeans. This is because in the
Old World diesel engine cars are quite popular. According to Bosch data,
in Europe two thirds of cars have diesel engines.
